Getting started with a new therapist can be daunting. Whether you need help with a specific problem or just have the feeling that life could be better, choosing the right person with whom to work is an important decision.

Here is what to expect:

During the initial session or two, we go over your current situation and your history: what your life is like, what has helped in the past, and what hasn’t. We talk about what will likely be helpful now to move forward, including type and frequency of psychotherapy and whether to use medications to augment your treatment. During these sessions, you will get a sense of how I work and if you feel like we would be a good fit.

Considering your specific circumstances, we decide how to proceed with the treatment together.
